Nieminen käsittelee työskentelyssään usein ekologisia aiheita installaatioiden muodossa. Hän on kiinnostunut yksilön, yhteisön ja ympäristön dynamiikasta. Motiivit nousevat tarpeesta tuoda huomiota luonnon ongelmaiselle hyväksikäytölle ja kulutuskulttuurille, ihmisten erkaantumiselle luonnosta sekä toisistaan. Ympäristö on noussut tärkeäksi myös taiteen tekemisen tilana.

Nieminen often addresses contemporary ecological issues in the form of installations. She is interested in the dynamics of individual, community and the environment. Her motives derive from the need to bring notice to humankind’s exploitation of nature and global consumer culture and to the disengagement of humans from their environment and from each other. Environment has become important not only as a theme but as a working space.
